More often than not, Doctors/Physicians take up administrative roles when they start their own ventures, or they perform better in their role as a doctor and are designated administrative roles within the organisation; Physicians and even those doctors who do management training still find it challenging to adapt to their new roles as physician leaders.
Leadership training programmes helps one understand the concepts of leadership in a generalised way; but empowering leadership to doctors and healthcare professionals within the healthcare system is much more valuable because it personally coaches the doctor/physician taking into account the environment, complexities and the demands of a certain particular role that they take, which helps them transit from being a physician to a physician leader much more smoothly.
It is indeed important to empower oneself with leadership behaviours which brings immense growth not only to the organisation and providing better services but also does justice to the roles that physicians take upon themselves. Empowering leadership skills and coaching doctors adapt to their roles is often more productive and enhancing to the healthcare organisation and its performance.
